He raised his hand before he'd thought it through. Too late now.

He brought a spare pen to the meeting, in case someone else needed one.

Nobody did. He kept it out anyway, just in case.

The tie took him four tries this morning. He got there.

He isn't totally sure he's the right animal for this job.

He's going to do it well anyway, because that's what you do.

Someone said "good point" halfway through, and he thought about it for the rest of the week.

He'll take it home with him tonight — not because he has to, but because he wants to get it right.
