"The herd forgives nothing that doesn't move with it."
There's a moment every herd animal faces: keep pace, or fall out of formation. Safety lives in numbers, in matching stride, in never being the one who stops first. But something happens to the ones who fall behind — or choose to. They don't run to catch up. They turn around and plant their feet. Being cast out and refusing the herd, it turns out, are not the same thing. One is done to you. The other, you do yourself.
What did you leave behind, the last time you decided the group was wrong?
